Regulate & Learn Night: Understanding Your Nervous System
June 11 @ 6:00 pm – 7:30 pm

“There’s nothing you need to do perfectly tonight. You can just come as you are and take what you need.”
This first Regulate & Learn evening opens the series with the foundation everything else builds on: how your nervous system actually works. We’ll start with a fun, interactive opener (yes, you’ll be making a calming mocktail with us), then move into gentle yoga and an approachable look at the science behind why you feel the way you feel.
If you’ve ever wondered why you can’t “just relax,” why certain situations send you spiraling, or why your body holds onto stress long after the moment has passed, this evening is for you.
You’ll leave with concrete language for what’s happening inside you, plus practical tools you can use in everyday life. No prior background or yoga experience needed. Come curious, come comfortable.
This evening will support:
- A foundational understanding of nervous system states
- Recognition of your own patterns and triggers
- Practical, in-the-moment regulation strategies
- A sense of clarity about why your body and mind respond the way they do
What to expect:
- A quiet, cozy, small-group setting (12 attendees maximum)
- Warm tea and a welcoming environment
- A “Make a Mocktail with us” interactive opener
- Gentle grounding and slow movement (no yoga experience needed)
- Approachable, real-life teaching with no jargon
- A journaling prompt and optional sharing
- A take-home tool you can use the very next day
Facilitated by Kayla Durand, LCSW, and Sue Zane Durand.
