At Durand and Associates, we provide services which promote individual growth and psychological health. We understand that each client we are blessed to work with is a unique individual influenced by his or her culture, family, values, beliefs, and personal identity. We strive to honor and respect the uniqueness of each person we treat. Psychotherapy first begins with clearly understanding and identifying the clients’ goals and establishing a treatment plan based on those individualized goals.
We are located in Minot, North Dakota and offer telehealth to the state of North Dakota.

Due to this we understand that psychological services may not be the only treatment our clients need. Therefore, we may facilitate a referral to other treatment providers and/or professionals in order to help clients actualize their full potentials.

Kayla Durand, LCSW
Founder & Clinical Director, Durand & Associates

Kayla Durand is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and the founder of Durand & Associates, a private mental health practice committed to empowering minds and enriching lives. A proud Minot native, Kayla earned her Bachelor of Social Work from Minot State University before going on to complete her Master’s degree at the University of North Dakota. Her clinical training included work at Trinity Riverside Outpatient Mental Health and experience in Child and Adolescent Partial Hospitalization, giving her a solid foundation in trauma-informed care.
Kayla specializes in helping clients navigate anxiety, trauma, and life transitions, using a compassionate and evidence-based approach. As both a clinician and entrepreneur, Kayla is passionate about reducing stigma, building access to care, and fostering a supportive, values-driven team at Durand & Associates

Carrie Ozuna, LCSW
Licensed Clinic Social Worker

Carrie is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in North Dakota with over 10 years of experience working with trauma survivors. A U.S. Air Force veteran, she brings strength, compassion, and a grounded presence to her work. Carrie holds a Master of Social Work from Walden University and a Bachelor of Social Work from Minot State University.
She specializes in helping adult women (ages 18–70) facing PTSD, anxiety, grief, life transitions, and work-related stress such as vicarious trauma. As an LGBTQ+ ally, Carrie creates a warm, affirming space where clients feel safe and supported.
Her approach is person-centered and trauma-informed, blending feminist theory with evidence-based practices like EMDR, Ego States therapy, and Internal Family Systems (IFS). Carrie also draws from DBT, CBT, and Solution-Focused Therapy, integrating breathwork and mindfulness to support nervous system regulation and holistic healing.
Outside of her clinical work, Carrie enjoys life as a wife and mother and is passionate about fostering authentic connection and self-compassion in others.

Heather Ives, LMSW

Heather Ives is a Licensed Master Social Worker with over eight years of experience supporting individuals through trauma, anxiety, and emotional healing. A proud U.S. Air Force veteran, Heather retired from service in 2014 and went on to earn her Bachelor of Social Work from Minot State University in 2016, followed by her Master of Social Work in Advanced Clinical Practice from Walden University in 2018.
Heather specializes in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), an evidence-based therapy designed to help clients process traumatic memories and foster meaningful, long-term healing. Her work is grounded in compassion, clinical excellence, and a commitment to creating a safe, supportive environment for every client.
Heather is passionate about empowering individuals to move beyond painful experiences, build resilience, and develop healthy coping strategies. Her calm, steady presence and trauma-informed approach allow clients to explore their inner world at their own pace, knowing they are supported every step of the way.
When she’s not working with clients, Heather enjoys spending time with family and continuing her education in trauma recovery and holistic wellness.

Jess McCay, LCSW
Licensed Clinical Social Worker

Jess is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with experience supporting children, adolescents, and young adults (up to age 30) through a variety of emotional and behavioral challenges. She is passionate about creating a safe, collaborative space where clients can explore their experiences, build resilience, and grow in confidence.
Jess earned her Bachelor of Social Work from Minot State University, with a concentration in addiction studies, and completed her Master of Social Work at Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota. Her professional background includes outpatient therapy, school-based mental health services, group counseling, and case management in residential addiction treatment.
Jess specializes in working with anxiety, depression, trauma, perinatal mood disorders, military family issues, and LGBTQIA+ affirming care. She is trained in evidence-based practices such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Trauma-Focused CBT (TF-CBT), and perinatal mental health therapy. Jess also incorporates play therapy approaches when working with children to help them express emotions, develop social skills, and process difficult experiences in a developmentally appropriate way.

Kelsey Terhaar, LCSW
Licensed Clinical Social Worker

Kelsey was born and raised in Northern Minnesota and moved to Minot in 2021. She graduated with her bachelor’s in Communications Sciences Disorders from St. Cloud State University in 2016 and graduated with a Master’s of Social Work in 2023. She is a licensed clinical social worker. She has experience working with school-aged children, adolescents, and adults in both inpatient and outpatient clinical settings. She also has experience working with individuals with developmental and intellectual disabilities.
She currently works with individuals ages 14+ in an outpatient setting. Her intention in counseling is to create an inclusive, nonjudgmental environment for her clients as they build a trusting relationship and work towards reaching goals together. She believes in a collaborative approach where the client is the expert and leader of their life. Kelsey strives to help individuals feel heard and guide them through difficult challenges. Her theoretical approach is made up of evidence-based models such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), person-centered, and strength-based theories. Kelsey is trained in Brainspotting Trauma Therapy. She looks forward to supporting you during your mental health journey.

Ashley Tapp, LMSW

Ashley Tapp, LMSW, is a compassionate therapist dedicated to helping individuals and families navigate life’s challenges. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Social Work from Minot State University and her Master’s degree in Social Work from the University of South Dakota.
Ashley has experience supporting clients with substance use disorders, severe mental illness, depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, borderline personality disorder, and behavioral concerns. She also works with couples and families, helping them strengthen communication and build healthier relationships. Her clinical work integrates CBT, DBT, and TF‑CBT with youth ages 12 and older, as well as adults.
In addition to her professional training, Ashley spent eight years as a foster parent and is the adoptive mother of two children—an experience that deepened her understanding of attachment, resilience, and the complexities families face.
Ashley is passionate about empowering people to recognize their strengths, heal from past experiences,and move toward a more fulfilling life.

Kayla Liebelt, LAPC
Licensed Associate Professional Counselor

Kayla Liebelt, LAPC, strives to help people feel seen, heard, and supported while navigating life’s challenges. She emphasizes that every voice and story matters through her practice as a mental health therapist. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Minot State and her Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling through the University of Mary.
Kayla has experience in working with children, adolescents, teens, adults, and couples experiencing mental health challenges including anxiety, depression, and trauma. Her therapeutic approach is warm, collaborative, and rooted in creating a space that is comfortable and safe for individuals to be their authentic selves. Her practice integrates CBT with a person-centered approach. She is currently continuing her education with intention to offer brainspotting; a somatic, trauma-focused therapy modality.
Kayla finds great passion additionally in her work as a dance choreographer and coach. She emphasizes mind, body, and emotional connection through movement in this role, which has expanded her understanding of how therapy can look different for each individual.

Artistic Event Director
Sue Zane Durand brings dynamic creative vision and a multifaceted background to her role as Artistic Event Director. With a diverse educational foundation—including studies in Interior Decorating, Elementary Education, Art History, and certifications as a Health Coach, Aerobics Instructor, Group Fitness Instructor, Yoga Instructor, and Trauma-Informed Yoga Facilitator, Sue combines wellness, education, and artistry to craft meaningful experiences.
Her passion lies in curating spaces that encourage personal growth, creativity, exploration, and holistic well-being. Whether leading a wellness retreat, coordinating a community art experience, or designing an immersive event, Sue is dedicated to helping others connect, heal, and thrive.
We’re honored to have Sue leading the artistic direction for our events and look forward to the inspiration, beauty, and energy she brings to every experience.

Megan Altner
Clinical Operations Manager
Megan serves as the Clinical Operations Manager at Durand & Associates, where she helps keep the heart of the practice running smoothly each day. With a passion for organization and growth, she works behind the scenes to ensure both clients and clinicians feel supported from start to finish.
In addition to overseeing daily office operations, she leads the company’s marketing efforts and works closely alongside the clinical director to support the continued development of the practice. From coordinating schedules to improving systems and strengthening community outreach, she plays a vital role in creating a seamless and welcoming experience for everyone who walks through the doors.
Her passion lies in building strong foundations, making sure the details are handled, the team feels supported, and the environment reflects the care and compassion at the core of the practice. Through dedication, creativity, and heart, she helps Durand & Associates continue to grow and serve the community with excellence.
